A Short Guide to History, Theory, and Practice gives a visual overview of  the origins of major photographic areas such as landscape photography, portraiture, and conflict.

It looks at some of the key photographers and ideas that have shaped how we see the world today and also presents a global, pluralist outlook on both the wonderful expressive and artistic qualities of the photographic image, as well as its darker side.

If you haven’t studied photography before this is a great and accessible introduction to its past and present theory and practice.

And if you have studied photography before, this will be an engaging reminder of what you are missing.
